Save American Manufacturing Endorses US Senator Russ Feingold

Milwaukee - US Senator Russ Feingold today was pleased to accept the endorsement of Save American Manufacturing (SAMNow). SAMNow is a non-partisan, grassroots movement that represents the job concerns of the American manufacturing community. SAMNow describes their group as hard-working middle class workers and small business owners that are concerned about the loss of all areas of manufacturing and services to non-domestic sources causing a rapid decline in the economic condition of the United States.

"Given all that is going on in manufacturing today, we are very lucky to have Senator Feingold representing us in the US Senate," said Cathy Schuldt, SAMNow Wisconsin State Chair and owner of Butler Wire and Metal Products in Menomonee Falls. "He completely understands the desperate situation that we face, and the only way to fix this problem is to elect people that will do something about it. As manufacturers, it is comforting to know that we don't have to baby sit Senator Feingold as we do so many others in Congress. He always votes the right way. SAMNow will do all that it can to ensure that Senator Feingold remains our US Senator."

Senator Feingold is proud of his legislative voting record on this issue. He voted against unfair and unbalanced trade agreements, such as GATT, NAFTA, Most Favored Nation Status for China, and Fast Track Authority. He recently introduced a bill to strengthen the Buy American Act, which requires US government agencies to buy goods and services from American companies. Feingold believes that we must provide incentives for private industry, and reward them for keeping business here in the US.

"I am very pleased to receive this extremely important endorsement," said Senator Feingold. "SAMNow represents the views of thousands of Wisconsinites whose jobs are disappearing because of unfair trade agreements. As the best entrepreneurs and laborers in the world, Americans must be given a fair chance to compete. I am working hard to try to stop the hemorrhaging of American jobs and with SAMNow's support, I will be able to continue my work in the US Senate."

Feingold is expected to seek reelection in 2004.
